Do You Remember?

Do you remember the first time you saw him,
when, at the very sight of him, you finally knew?
That this was the boy you wished for more than anything,
but deep down you felt you hopes would never come true?

Do you remember the days and weeks you spent thinking of him,
Imagining how you would spend you life with him?
Wondering if life would ever be lived with him?
Pondering how life could possibly be lived without him?

Do you remember when you first noticed the pure beauty of him,
When the slightest glance towards him stopped you in your tracks?
When his very presence next to you sent your heart racing,
When you thought his appearance had nothing, nothing at all, that lacks?

Do you remember how you obsessed over him,
How images of him popped up with every blink?
How you found yourself unable to concentrate on what matters,
How you grip on reality seemed to finally shrink?

Do you remember how you tried to live without him.
How you wasted your time at home sulking and crying?
How the slightest whim of him precluded your heart from beating,
How you thought being without him was a fate worse than dying?

Do you remember how he haunted you,
How, no matter what, his image wouldn't escape your head?
How those terrible ideas of someone else taking him filled you,
How you wished he loved you instead?

Do you remember how you wished to be him,
When love turned into jealousy and hate?
When you cursed his name for ruining your life,
When you no longer thought of him great?

Do you remember how long you kept in your feelings for him,
not telling anyone what you felt, thought, or knew?
Hiding behind a smile or laugh, and never a frown,
never letting true emotions seep through?

Do you remember how you thought you were over him,
how you kept telling yourself you'd be okay?
How you thought you could survive without him,
how he still ended up ruining your day?

Do you remember when he finally said his first words to you,
When your face scrunched up and you had a loss of breath?
When you tried to respond, but out came only a squeak,
when you thought this would be your untimely death?

Do you remember when you finally told someone,
That you realized what you wanted more than anything?
How words let loose and feelings ran rampant,
How you explained you so adored this singular being?

Do you remember when you cried with your friends that day,
When you shared stories, laughs, and tears?
When you felt comfortable admitting your love,
When you almost let go of your fears?

Do you remember how you actually thought of telling him,
How a powerful force told you it was now time?
How you wondered about it for days on end,
How you hoped this would be your moment to shine?

Do you remember when your mind was made up,
When you finally decided to set your heart free?
When you strongly felt that this was the right choice,
When you implored God to let this be your moment of glee?

Do you remember how you told him,
When you approached him, hoping this was to-be?
When you searched and searched, finally catching him,
When you told yourself, "he's only for me"?

Do you remember that final breath you took,
When you felt the tension could be cut by a knife?
When you stood there, bewildered by his beauty,
When you knew this moment would change your life?

Do you remember the special moment when you spoke,
When the first coherent words escaped your lips?
When his previous thoughts of you ceased to be,
When you waved goodbye to the shore, setting sail to your ships? **

Do you remember the look on his face,
The feeling of panic that suddenly swept over you?
The image of shock, joy, and exasperation which covered him,
The strong hope of being with him that grew?

Do you remember the smile that spread across his face,
The smile that sent shivers down your spine?
The smile that made you realize your dream has come true,
The smile so powerful, you thought it divine?

Do you remember the words he spoke,
Those magical, amazing words?
Those words that sent your heart aflutter,
Those words that made you fly like the birds?

Do you remember the final gesture,
The hand he outstretched, waiting to be taken?
The lips he secured around your own,
The life he sent through you to awaken?

Do you remember the feeling of pure happiness you felt,
When you realized your dream had come true?
When you knew nothing could ever take you down,
When you felt that never again, would you feel blue?

Do you remember the sweat that ran down your face,
The shivers that never ended their ceaseless creeping?
The jolt your body gave off when you sat up,
The fact you realized you were only dreaming?

Do you remember? The feelings still remain.
